Dann receives "Coach of Excellence" Award
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Ouachita Baptist University swimming coach Jim Dann recently received American Swimming Coaches Association “Coach of Excellence” Award. This honor was given to Dann for having a swimmer reach the finals of either a collegiate championships or USA Swimming national-level meet (spring championships or summer nationals).
“I am very honored for this recognition,” Dann said. “We have tremendous kids and a great work ethic here at Ouachita Baptist. Without their hard work and dedication, none of this would have been possible.”Ouachita Baptist opens the swimming season Sept. 28 with Purple/Gold Intrasquad Meet. Both teams are in action 10:00 a.m. Oct. 6 at home against Delta State.
Condorelli earns Academic All-District honors
Three Ouachita Baptist athletes – junior Ondrej Vana, junior Catherine Engibous and sophomore Vicente Condorelli – earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors Thursday.
Badalac featured on Saturday's CBS Sports special
Ouachita freshman Radu Badalac will be featured in the NCAA winter championships special on CBS this Saturday at 12 p.m. Central. The Sibiu, Romania, native earned All-American honors in three individual events at nationals and led Ouachita to a sixth-place overall finish.
OBU finishes off another great nationals
The Ouachita swimming team saved the best for last at the NCAA Championships. Sarah Watson became the national champion in the 200-yard Backstroke, and Ouachita had multiple top-eight finishes. The TigerSharks earned sixth place, and the Lady TigerSharks came in seventh.
OBU Swimming strengthens Top 10 position
The Ouachita swimming team handled expectations Friday and strengthened a spot in the top 10 at the NCAA Div. II National Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. The TigerSharks are in 6th place with 182 points after Day 3. The Lady TigerSharks are in 6th (169 points).
OBU Swimming wraps up Day 2 at nationals
The Ouachita swimming team used a successful string of relays Thursday to stay in the top 10 at the NCAA Div. II National Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. The TigerSharks are in 6th place with 111 points after Day 2. The Lady TigerSharks are in 8th (109 points).
OBU Swimming off to solid start at nationals
The Ouachita swimming team got off to a solid start on the first day of the NCAA Div. II National Championships at the Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y. The Lady TigerSharks are in 5th place with 57 points after Day 1. The TigerSharks are in 10th (33 points).
